Names

If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?

I would actually change my name to one of the original names my parents thought to give me.

If you haven’t seen my name here as the author of Immemorial Musing, my name is Matt. It’s short for Matthew, but I go by Matt. My parents decided on Matthew for its biblical significance.

However, each of my parents had their own unrelated name they wanted to give me.

My mother had thought of the name Scott. I would bring this up as a fun fact to friends, and most of them could see me as a Scott.

My father wanted me to be Tom, as in Thomas. This name, on the other hand, is not agreed on by me and my friends.

So, I would like the name Scott if I had to change it.

I really like Matt though. It feels funny to say that because most people would get attached to their own name after going by it throughout their life, but I really am attached to it. Funnily, I don’t even like Matthew as much anymore, just Matt.

This post has reminded me of something.

As Immemorial Musing has been getting more entries, I’ve realized that the minuscule chance of someone figuring out that this anonymous blog is actually mine is growing. Immemorial Musing’s anonymity is something that I’ve tossed around in my mind, but as long as it is still anonymous, I want to stick with that as much as possible.

It is the name of my mindscape after all.
