There is a way of life that I have always been inspired by, and for the first time in my life, I think I actually have the motivation to push myself to become it.
The term “Renaissance man” is basically used to describe someone who is so knowledgeable in many different fields that they are reminiscent of the great minds of the Renaissance.
The Renaissance is probably my favorite period of human history. It just is so full of wonder and endless possibilities in every aspect of culture.
On top of that, one of my favorite people in human history is a Renaissance man.
In fact, he is THE Renaissance man, one of the original great minds that became the start and embodiment of the term: Leonardo da Vinci.
This is something that has been in the back of mind since I started this blog, and this is the perfect time right now to dive into it.
So first, da Vinci. He studied so many things that I genuinely can’t remember all of them without looking him up.
He studied human anatomy, the anatomy of several animals, botany, weather, light, geometry, geology, and more. He painted (literally including the Mona Lisa), drew, sculpted, designed theatre costumes, and more. And finally, he made multiple inventions, including a helicopter, a parachute, and a TANK. Yes, a tank, now fittingly called the Da Vinci tank.
So that’s Leonardo da Vinci in a nutshell. I forgot that this post was going to be about me originally. That’s just how enthusiastic I get about da Vinci.
Ok, so about me now. I have always struggled with motivation. At times throughout my life, it gets to the point where I hate hearing people talk about being “ambitious”.
I just want to relax. I prioritize comfort and leisure whenever I can, just because it feels nice. And, for a while now, I haven’t been sure of anything that I would even want to do in life.
However, for what really feels like the first time in my life, I have started to have my own drive to do things. And I mean things that I like to do, but also completely new things.
When I started college, I was a computer science major (I still have no idea why). After my first year, I really didn’t like it, and I switched majors. Now, after (this may say how old I am) EIGHT YEARS, I have found myself having an interest in basic coding.
This is just one example, and, just to be clear, this motivation sparked just a few days ago. Now on the other side, the biggest thing that sparked for me is actually one of my LIFELONG dreams. I started to actually imagine my dream realistically for the first time in over a decade, if not ever genuinely.
It’s such a strange feeling. It really feels so unusual, I haven’t felt drive like this in a very long time.
So, if anything does come out of this new motivation, I’ll be sure to talk about it here. I still might not specify the dream, as it has become a pipe dream over the course of my life that not many people know, but I’ll talk about updates regardless.
Follow your dreams.
